Two plants to provide clean water to residents of the villages of Dhahboon and Barbazom (in the Governerate of Dhofar) were recently inaugurated in a ceremony presided over by Shaikh Amor bin Salim Kashoob, Wali of Thumrait.

These facilities were funded by the sustainable development budget of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and manufactured by Advanced Watertek.

Suleiman Al Tobi, PDO's engineering and operations director, commented that "The opening of the two plants coincides with the Sultanate's 40th National Day celebrations and comes to further exemplify PDO's support to the long term objectives of Oman's modern renaissance to achieve a sustainable future for the country and the Omani society at large."

The ceremony was reported by the Times of Oman (24th July) and Khaleej Times (26th July).
