Reverse Osmosis Desalination
Reverse Osmosis (RO) desalination is a separation process used to reduce dissolved salt content of saline water to a desired level. This is achieved by passing the saline water through a semi-permeable membrane at a pressure level higher than osmotic pressure. It works by using a high-pressure pump to increase the pressure on the salt side of the RO and force the water across the semi-permeable RO membrane, leaving almost all off dissolved salts behind in the reject stream.
