How did you get started in the water treatment industry? Where did you begin?

I started here in Watertek in 2007. 10 years today. Before this, I was in the hotel industry. Then I moved onto Watertek.

Which industry or segment is your core focus? What excites you most about this industry?

Oil and gas is my focus. It’s so exciting because of the challenge to convince clients to buy things honestly. It’s also difficult to maintain them. You have to be friends with them. They are very flexible and they have many channels to interact with.

And the thing that excites me most is the challenge to retain clients. I have not seen them actually personally. I have only spoken to them through the phone. They have become like my friends.

Why did you choose to work for Advanced Watertek?

I chose it because I wanted learning. It’s a continuous learning. When you work in hotel, its just a simple process job. You say hello to the guests, do some registration. But here in Watertek, everyday there is something new. It’s a continuous learning process. The trust is also there. You do what you want as long as it is related to work. I have been here for 10 years. I wouldn’t have stayed this long had I not enjoyed it.

How do you see the immediate future of the water treatment industry? Is there something that companies must do to stay afloat?

In this industry, you really have to know the latest in the industry. You have to be updated. You have to retain the old style, but also adapt to the new style. It’s a continuous process.

If you are in water treatment, you have to work to retain your clients. In the future, they will have more rigs, more vessels. So to maintain this, you must be in constant contact with them so that they will give first priority to you. But if you are in good terms with the client, in the sense that you give them the technical terms when they ask and you are up front with them. That will help.

Is there a quote or life philosophy that you like to live by? If not, is there a celebrated professional whose product philosophy you look up to or strive to emulate?

I have one quote that I like to live by. “Don’t look down and be depressed. Look up and you will be blessed.” I like it. I think that sometimes you feel down. Just in general, you feel down. Just pray and it will work out.
